GICF Recommendations 2024

We asked some of the acts performing at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2024 for their top three recommendations who you should go and see. So, if you are struggling with who to pick, let these top acts be your personal shoppers.

SUSIE MCCABE RECOMMENDS…

ZARA GLADMAN RECOMMENDS…

Having sold out two shows at Oran Mor for GICF 2024, we asked Zara who else people should be going to see since they can’t see her.

Fiona Allen

FIONA ALLEN: ON THE RUN

Oran Mor
Thursday 14th March 2024
Show Time: 7:30pm

Zara says: “As a teenager, I was obsessed with “Smack the Pony”. Back then, I didn’t think about the fact it was all women, and how quietly radical that was. I just found it hilarious, thanks in no small part to Fiona. Fiona is now bringing her debut stand up show to Glasgow and I can’t wait to see her on stage. Aileen, the West end mum caught up with Fiona last month, you can watch their discussion here.

Sophie Rose McCabe

SOPHIE ROSE MCCABE: MOTHER BORED

The Old Hairdresser’s
Thursday 21st March 2024
Show Time: 8:00pm

Zara says: “Sophie serves up original character comedy for ageing millennials that teeters on the edge of unhinged, in a good way. Sophie isn’t your “typical” mum and this isn’t a “typical” stand up show: be prepared for theatrics and a lot of fun! And maybe even some techno.”

Desiree Burch

DESIREE BURCH (WIP)

The Old Hairdresser’s
Sunday 24th March 2024
Show Time: 8:30pm

Zara says: “The first time I saw Desiree was at the Soho Theatre years ago and her show left a lasting impact. I still think about it; she’s such an incredible storyteller. I can’t actually go to her show (someone has rudely scheduled their wedding for the same time) but you should go, and tell me everything.”
