Paul Campbell: The Lost Tapes of Somerfield

Gael & Grain

Sunday 22nd March 2026

Show time: 1:00pm

The first known show of the dead supermarket comedy genre. Paul Campbell reflects on how as a socially isolated teenager he became a fan boy of the 00s supermarket Somerfield, spending at least 45 minutes a day in those sacred aisles, and how he grieved the closure of his beloved Stretford branch. The show features original cassette recordings from 2006 and explores the five stages of the little known Supermarket Grief.

Winner of the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025
