Mara Joy has. Consistently and intrusively since she was a small ‘boy’. Now a 38 year old woman with many years of mental health diagnoses, therapy, life experiences, and at least one intervention from the UK Supreme Court behind her: it’s time to finally get a definitive answer! Probably. It’s a Work-in-Progress, after all..

Mara Joy – the redheaded one from the Scottish Comedy Award winning Spontaneous Players – is a stand-up, improviser and all-round comedy idiot. She was a regular at Monkey Barrel Comedy’s alternative night, The OTHER Show, and was a semi-finalist in the Funny Women Awards 2023 and LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year 2024. You can also regularly find her playing board games on the internet. Mostly, she just does stupid comedy about stupid things.
