Jack Wilson just got rich. He won a major lawsuit against an evil company that caused the death of the funniest person he knew, his mum. Now, this working-class man, who used to steal cigarettes, now has the funds to launch a tour about his loss and sudden wealth. However, the money can’t fix his grief; it’s like buying a nice sofa for a burnt-down house. Wilson is trying to process death, money, and the price of a pint at a comedy festival all at once. Eddy Midgley is also in the Dead Mum Club. His Mother’s death did not leave him with immense wealth, or a heroic victory over an evil company. Eddy was left with a drinking problem and some painful information regarding his Mother’s personal life… Eddy now attempts to make sense of the world while avoiding this demons, and the bailiffs at the front door.
