Education Maintenance Allowance
Remember when the government used to pay you to go to school? Jamie and Yolanda do.
Those lucky few who got £30 a week—meant to “support their education”—usually spent it on bevvy and hash.
Education Maintenance Allowance is the debut show from Glasgow based comedians Jamie MacColl and Yolanda Mitchell: two working-class comics with plenty of daft stories, sharp observations and the kind of honesty you only get from people who grew up with prepayment meters.
Reviews on Jamie:
“He had more truth, exploration and grit about him – a mischievous integrity.” — Bobby Carroll, British Comedy Guide
“Weird in a great way – the crowd loved it, an absolute screamer.” — The Stand, Glasgow
Reviews on Yolanda:
“Mitchell commands the stage… and her comic timing is flawless.” – The Wee Review
