Bad Muslim, Good Grandson
Van Winkle West End
Being Muslim in society is hard. Especially when juggling your Scottish identity, caring for family and navigating cultural and social expectations. How can you be Muslim and pray 5 times a day when it’s customary in your culture to drink vodka in a park at 14? Following his Grandfather’s major surgery, Raheil Ahmad moves in with his elderly, South Asian and very Muslim grandparents to care for them, while trying to hide his bacon, booze and blunts. In this show he’ll ask big questions about whether or not there’s a God, examine why Muslims aren’t meant to drink and ponder why people can’t get his name right. As seen on BBC Scotland’s The Comedy Underground, BBC New Comedy Awards Shortlisted, Scottish Comedian of the year and New Online Comedian finalist, join performer Raheil Ahmad for a night of humour that’s sometimes halal, sometimes haram but always hilarious.
