Happy Pancake Day!

We are now only three weeks away from the start of the festival, so before you gorge on pancakes, let us fill you up with a feast of comedy news. Read on for a special Frankie Boyle announcement, a blog from Late Night Gimp Fight and Clyde 1's Knoxy tells us what she's looking forward to at this year's festival.

Frankie Boyle

In case you missed our announcement last week, the inimitable Frankie Boyle is doing a short support set before Martin Mor’s show Playing With Fire at The Stand on Sunday 18 March. Tickets are disappearing fast, so be quick to avoid disappointment. Click here to book or call 0844 395 4005.

Don't forget you can also see Frankie along with Gary Tank Commander at Stand Up for Palestine at the King's Theatre on Monday 19 March. Click here for tickets.

Late Night Gimp Fight

Our featured blog this week comes from the Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated sketch crew Late Night Gimp Fight. They are one of the most exciting comedy groups in the country; combining song, dance and the occasional gimp in their act. After a complete sell-out run at the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe, they are making their comedy festival debut. Click here to read the blog and find out more.

Late Night Gimp Fight will be at the Tron on 30 & 31 March at 10.30pm.

Clyde

Over the next three weeks we are going to speak to some of the Clyde 1 presenters and find out what they love about the festival. This week Knoxy tells us what she’s looking forward to this year:

I can’t wait for this year’s Glasgow International Comedy Festival – last year we were involved and had a brilliant time and this year is going to be bigger and better than ever!  I’ve got quite a funny sense of humour, well I call it funny; some may call it immature.  But that’s what I love about the comedy festival, there really is a show to suit everyone.  I recently interviewed Daniel Sloss and can’t wait to see his show at the King's, he made me laugh a lot with his family tales and I love the fact he’s still so young.  And who could resist Ardal O’Hanlon, it’s a bit of Father Ted in Glasgow!

Catch Knoxy on Clyde 1 every week day from 10am-2pm. Tune in on 102.5FM, on Digital Radio or on-line at www.clyde1.com

Venue Focus: The Tron Theatre

The Tron has been a familiar landmark in Glasgow's Merchant City area for centuries and a popular cultural venue for over twenty years. Situated at 63 Trongate, just a few yards from Glasgow Cross, the building is easily identified by the unmistakable 16th Century church steeple.

The theatre has been part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival since the beginning and has played host to an array of comic talent. This year is no different with acts like Robin Ince & Michael Legge, The Legendary Arnold Brown, The Ginge, The Geordie and The Geek, Late Night Gimp Fight and Greg Proops all appearing.
