Mark Nelson blogs for us and we tell you why Brel is a great festival venue...
Six weeks to go...
Phew! Can you believe January's nearly over? We certainly can't... It's been a busy month for the comedy festival crew: we've launched the fantastic full 2012 programme, we have a snazzy new website and we've been to London to showcase some of the performers that will be gracing stages across Glasgow in March. There are only six weeks to go until the start of the festival, so clear your diary and book some tickets!
Mark Nelson blog
Each week we are going to be posting a guest blog from a festival performer and kicking off the proceedings we have the lovely Mark Nelson. He tells us about why he loves the city and what makes Glasgow the best comedy festival in all of the land (you heard us Edinburgh!). You can read Mark's musings here.
Come and see him do his thing at Oran Mor on Friday 30 March, for more information or to book tickets click here.
Venue focus: Brel
We are also going to be doing a weekly focus on one of the festival's venues; first up we have Brel. Situated in Ashton Lane in the heart of the West End, Brel has been a comedy festival venue since 2005. The surroundings are intimate and relaxed, the bar is well stocked with the finest beer you'll find this side of Belgium and the moules frites are to die for.
Brel is the venue to go to if you want to discover comedy stars of the future; Kevin Bridges, Josie Long, Jon Richardson and Andrew Lawrence have all performed here. This year's line-up includes Vikki Stone, Tiffany Stevenson, David Morgan and loads more, plus there is a fantastic late show on every Saturday throughout the festival.
